Kaggwa Woyera Parish recently hosted a 3-day retreat for the Atumiki Achifundo group from the Catholic Deanery of Maula, comprising 11 parishes. The retreat took place from May 16 to 18, 2025, and was attended by over 360 members.
The members of the Marian group started arriving at the parish on Friday, May 16, in the evening and were warmly welcomed by the Parish First Vice Chairperson, Mr. Federiko Benedicto. The official welcome was extended on Saturday, May 17, after the 6:00 am Mass, with both the Parish Priest, Monsignor Patrick Thawale, and Mr. Benedicto addressing the gathering.
The retreat was facilitated by Rev. Fr. Michael Malomo, the Deanery Chaplain for the Atumiki Achifundo group. He focused on the jubilee year theme, “Pilgrims of Hope,” and encouraged the members to remain united in Christ and depend on one another as they journey through life. He emphasized the importance of hope, faith, and love in their spiritual and daily lives.
The retreat concluded with a Mass on Sunday, May 18, which began with a solidarity walk from the nearby business center, Zebra in Area 49, to the Parish. The Mass was animated with singing, reading the word of God, and offering altar gifts. Monsignor Patrick Thawale presided over the Mass and called upon the members to lead an exemplary Christian life and make a difference in society.
The Maula Deanery Chairperson for Atumiki Achifundo, Mrs. Teresa Kunsinda, thanked the Parish Priest for hosting the retreat, appreciating his openness and support throughout their preparations. The Atumiki Achifundo Chairperson for Kaggwa Woyera Parish, Mrs. Edith Perpetua Lowe, thanked God for the successful retreat and expressed gratitude to the outgoing Atumiki Achifundo parish leadership for their assistance and guidance.
The retreat was a resounding success, and the members of Atumiki Achifundo left with renewed hope and a deeper commitment to their faith.
