Archbishop George Tambala urges Girls to embrace Christ

Archbishop George Desmond Tambala prelate of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe urged girls to embrace Christ through religious vocations. He said this on Saturday, 19 July 2025 after presiding over Mass that marked the first profession of Sr. Memory Kwatelera in the congregation of the Sisters of Missionaries of Mary Mediatrix in Malawi. He said that Girls it’s always important to encourage those girls with good will to serve Christ.

“Sr. Memory has come from among us and was presented by her parents to God. Girls, do not fear. If you hear the calling make a move and follow it,” he said.

He also encouraged parents to give their girl children a chance to discern their vocations.

Sr. Memory comes from a family of 5 boys and one girl, the only girl being herself. She hails from Kasina Parish in the Catholic Diocese of Dedza. By the time of her profession her parents were living in Mzuzu where his father was working with the Malawi Defense Force at the Moyale Barracks.
