Jubilee of Choirs: A Melody of Unity and Faith

All the seven choirs at Kaggwa Church had a week long Jubilee from Monday 24 November to Sunday 30 November 2025. They led in reading and animating the weekday Eucharistic Celebrations and reached the climax on Sunday during the 8:00 am Mass on the first Sunday of Advent.

The Parish Priest, Monsignor Patrick Thawale presided over the Eucharistic Celebration who in his homily advised the faithful to prepare for the incarnation of Jesus Christ. He said that it was a good coincidence that the Choirs were celebrating on the first Sunday of Advent which marks the beginning of a weeklong observance of waiting with joy.

In her remarks, Chairperson of the Executive of the Choirs Mrs. Grace Usi said that it was a time of coming together and mend their relationships as choirs and individuals. She said that it was a testimony of hard work, unity and hope among the seven choirs.

The Choirs organized a luncheon which also marked a sendoff ceremony for the outgoing Choirs Patron Rev. Fr. Matthews Potani who has since been appointed Parish Priest for St. Paul – Mchinji Parish.

Fr. Potani thanked the choirs for their dedication and unity shown during his 8 years as the parochial vicar for the Parish. He urged them to continue serving the Lord through singing and practicing the messages they sing.

The Parish has a total of 13 Choirs, seven of which are from Kaggwa Church and the other three outstations contribute two choirs each. The seven Choirs are St. Andrew Kaggwa Choir 1, St. Thomas Aquinas English Choir, St. Rita Women’s Choir, St. Lucia Choir 4, St. Denis Choir 5, St. Bernadette Children’s Choir and Martyrs of Uganda Men’s Choir in their order of formation.
